This is a great start to a new series, set in a paranormal world with slightly different 'rules' than the ones I've previously read. It was fun to begin learning about this one, and I suspect that future books (two of which have already been published) will add to the richness of Joyee's imaginings.I really enjoyed this story about Micah, a typical alpha-male bad-ass vampire warrior, who falls for Riley, an unconventional vampire doctor who believes he can learn from human medicine to help vampi [...]

3.5 stars. They said Mate and mine too much and they were pretty weak for "Vampires" Also for a short story it repeated itself a lot, I don’t remember how many times we read about Riley’s family being slaughtered but after the first time I got it didn’t need to read it again, same with the story of the roses

This book pretty much falls into all the traps I generally don’t like about Siren Publishing novels. They’re erotica without much in the way of plot. It’s insta-love with over simplified ideas and not a lot of character development. That isn’t to say that I hated this book, because I didn’t. I actually liked Riley’s character a lot, but the writing and story are all very simplistic and while I liked the premise everything was a little too sunshine and puppies rather than really deali [...]

    • Shannon says:

Wow, that shit needed some serious editing. I mean serious editing. I liked the premise well enough but it just drove me nutty the entire time. Nothing seemed to flow and everything was sunshine and puppies. Even when it wasn't supposed to be. I think I'll pass on this series.

      Enjoyable!

    • Don Bradshaw says:

I enjoyed this book but would have liked it much more without the holes in the plot. They are easy to forvive as Ms. Flynn keeps the pace of the story moving quickly and keeps the story interesting. The other problem that I had with the book was how the conversations sometines became stilted and very formal. That is why it got only 3 stars.Micah Marius is a vampire warrior fighting the hoards of demons threatening the existense of the vampire race. Micah is badly injured and taken to the closest [...]

    • Enny says:

This book features one of the most stupid cases of insta-love I've ever encountered (and I've read a lot of m/m books) and the writing style was awful (FI 42 instances of "chuckled/chuckling").

    • Clover says:

      nice story about vampires mating.

    • Helen says:

I rate this book a 2.5. Sometimes a book can be overly sweet and emotional to the point of being cheesy. That's what happened with Micah (Marius Brothers book 1). The situation between alpha vampire Micah and his mate Riley made me laugh but not in a good way. Their dialogue made me cringe at times because it didn't sound right. I kept thinking people don't talk or interact with each other like this. It's bad, so bad that it's funny. Oh my goodness. I dare not read the next book in this series.

What if you met the perfect man of your dreams, and he kissed like a dream, only he turned out not to be so perfect after all? What if he turned out to be straight? What then? What if you met a beautiful woman, a woman you felt was destined to be your mate, only she wasn't. What if she was a he? If its Micah and Riley, what happens is you work together, you work things out, you argue, you laugh, you cry, you compromise. You learn what love really is and what being mates really means.I'm glad I to [...]

I have to say that I really liked this. Micah was an ass at first, but then he became so sweet. LOVED Riley giving as good as he got. Oh buddy. This reminded me a bit of the Demon Warriors series by Lynn Hagen, but with vamps. I really enjoyed it though and I will be continuing on right away with the rest of the series. I can not wait to read about the rest of the Warriors!Oh and I can't wait til Riley tells the vamp docs to go take a hike. However, vamp docs don't know about human medicine? Rea [...]

This story was written most likely by a fanfiction writer. It started out pretty good with the fighting of demons and everything but as soon as Micah and Riley meet it all goes down hill from there. The writing style and point of view wasn't that great in all honestly and made me wish i hadn't spent the 3 dollars on it. I really liked the concept the author was trying to create but unfortunately the story fell short.

    • Meggie says:

This story is nothing special even stupidly easy, you could even say boring. The main couple is really without that special chemistry.Simply written as "hey we two are mates, now lets go fuck and we are great together" blah I mean really. This book was waste of time in my eyes.

    • Tj says:

A lite read. It was fun and easy to read. There was a little too much repetition and it was a bit "shallow" as far as character development and plot but for a simple lite read it was good:)

    • Shelley says:

Pre-Read Thoughts: The blurb sounds pretty interesting -demon hunting vampires. I'm in. I have a weird love/hate thing going with Joyee Flynn: I tend to really like the concepts of her books and not always enjoy the execution. To be fair, a lot of the reason why is b/c she writes in the first person-A LOT-and there are few things I hate more than first person POV. Yet, I keep reading (and buying) her books lol.Post Read Thoughts: This was a solid start to a new series. There's enough info to get [...]

I think this book is the start to a good series. I can see how many ways that the story can continue and expand. It had some action and family interactions. I loved the family interactions the best because they were both good and bad. They seemed more real because of that. What I would have liked different about the book is to have it more fleshed out. I think it could have used more length and storyline for Micah and Riley. I also tended to get irritated with Micah. I won't say why. I don't thin [...]

Too much crying. Nothing special about being vampires.

    • Miralinda says:

Неплохо, вот только великий воин Мика вечно плакал как ребенок. Как-то это раздражало.

    • PurpleBunny♡ says:

Another great read for this author. looking forward to more books in this new series.😆

    • Nina says:

I gave it a three star rating because of repetition. That was honestly the only thing bothering me, the fact that the characters would share a story of how something came to be shortly after that something happened, this happened multiple times.

    • Asteropê says:

Liked: The (slight) twist on vampire lore and demons. Also the idea that (view spoiler)[vampires have a gift/power/etc and it differs with each vampire and usually appears when young. (hide spoiler)]Out of the two heros, I preferred Riley the most. Supporting family (Elena, Marian, etc) were kind and loving. A few awww moments between mates. Disliked:Micah's insecurities. I understand it to a limit. I get that (view spoiler)[he was never with a man before and Riley had. I get that Micah is total [...]

I read this book a few days ago and I have did so much studying and homework since then that I don't really remember much. But I like what I can remember so that's good. I liked the vampires, and the demons that were once vampires and I loved the idea of the Demon Hunters, maybe I have watched too much Supernatural. The characters were fine and I loved that each had their own super power, except that I found Micah's messy mind magic to be kind of shit.Micah is a vampire from one of the oldest va [...]

This book was reviewed for Musings of a bookworm Well now, I have read other works by this author so I knew this would be hot, what I didn't realise was that I would LOVE it!! What I love about it is she has taken all the best bits of the other vampire series out there and made this one her own. I see bits of Lara Adrian's and J R Ward's Vampire world view but the author goes one step further an makes Vampires in her world just like us in the way they live except they drink blood and of course a [...]

Let me start by saying that I have already read the majority of the books in this series and was following it for a long time. I lost track of it and realized recently that I had about 4 new books in the Marius World Series to read. But it has been a long time since I read some of them, and I couldn't really remember much of the overarching plot. I also hadn't read much of the "Beyond the Marius Brothers" stories and never even added the ones I read onto . I decided to take up the challenge of r [...]

I love the twist of the 'traditional rules' in this book compared to ones I have previously read. It starts off with Micah, a vampire warrior, who after being injured is taken to an 'unconventional' (by vampire standards) doctor named Riley who unlike others learned to be a doctor by learning from human medicine. At first sight Micah believes Riley is a woman, which I think is not a very good way to start a relationship. After this part I believe it just all happened too fast, Riley is in a coma [...]

2.5 starsIt was very sweet ande really apparent how much in love the MCs were but it just wasn't enough. Not even the inclusions of a hospital scene like I crave could make me think this was very good. All conflict was resolved too easily. (view spoiler)[Stefan(hide spoiler)] was a dick for about five minutes then extremely apologetic. It was horribly sexist. No jobs were given for the women. They were all just included for the roles they play as moms and grandmas. While those are important and [...]

I was a little worried about this book when I first started reading it because the vamp/demon thing has been done so often, but I was pleasantly surprised. The story is super sweet and the characters are great. Both Micah and Riley are insecure and that makes for some 'awww' moments. The secondary characters are wonderful and I think the series will be pretty good. The issues I had with the story are not huge. First, I wish there was more description about their species and the world around them. [...]

What do you mean, "Micah's not a werewolf"? Really? Are you sure?Yeah, I picked up on that. It's kind of hard to miss when he reminisces on feeding. So, I just read the blurb wrong then? What. His name's Micah Marius?Seriously? Who the fuck comes up with names like this? It's like "Montgomery Montgomery," but without the irony.I'm done with this conversation with myself thing. It fizzled and died and now it's pointless. So, Flynn took a page from JR Ward with the Torhn thing. Just saying. Cuz H's m [...]

When I first read the summary, I was like, "Hecks yeah! I'm gonna love it!"Well no. All I could say was, well that escalated fast. For me, there was no build up to the romance and they straight away boinked, not a real word, I know. I was kind of annoyed how the author had the need to repeat some of the things, over and over again. Also I find it, unbelievable that a straight alpha male, could agree to a male mate so fast. For an alpha male, Micah's much more sensitive than a hormonal pregnant wo [...]
